Thursday August 25th Meeting (Keith)
Hello, All;
There were a lot of empty chairs at yesterday's meeting! Only six turned out - Leslie, Gabriel, Mary, Nicci, Cris and me. It was a good meeting though, and our next meeting, scheduled for Wednesday September 14th, will be even better because there'll be so many more people there! (he says with wide-eyed childish optimism :)
Leslie and I are looking into suitable locations to meet - the library is booked solid for September, so if you know of a place that can be had for a song (or a poem!) please speak out! A meeting room, wheel-chair accessible preferably, would be great!
Cris and Gabriel are submitting pieces for next meeting, and if anyone wants to volunteer a third piece, please get it to Jude by Friday September 9th. Everyone submitting work to the group is being asked to include, with your submission, a preamble giving the following information;
1. What inspired you to write this piece?
2. Is it stand-alone or part of a larger work?
3. What do you hope to do with it? (keep it in your sock drawer, submit it to publishers, or?)
4. What stage is it in? (1st draft, 2nd, 3rd, polished and ready to mail to publishers?)
5. What 'level' of critique do you want from the group? (a character review only, a full-blown critique, a story-line review only, encouragement to keep writing?)
It's important you include this info with your submission so the group can help where help is wanted.
There are two (I think two) tickets for the asking to some of the events at the Whistler Writer's Retreat. If you are interested, contact Leslie at eltenta@telus.net
Once a location has been found for the next meeting, it will be email out to you.
Regards,
Keith

Great post Keith!
I have a submission from Riun for the next workshop - I will send it out.
Sorry for my 'no-show' on Thursday - I missed sitting down with everyone ...
David Q has requested that we remove him from the mailing list.
There are two of us so far heading up to Whistler for the opening reception. I have room for two more, three if it is someone who doesn't mind sitting in the middle!
Cheers
Jude
